Karl O'Higgins
Born and raised in the North West of England by migrant Irish parents, engineering was always destined to be career number one, given his technical aptitude. Following a free spirited spell in the Fire Service, then Canada for a few years, Karl happened upon the dental business in 1993.
Combining technical skills with the desire to help people, Karl has carved out a successful dental industry career commencing in the R&D lab and product development, through sales, sales & marketing management, then responsible for A-dec’s operations throughout the UK and Ireland and more recently Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
A self-confessed, part-time philanthropist, Karl has been involved in charity work for several years now, both within dental and the wider charitable community. Karl’s involvement with Bridge2Aid started back in 2004 when he was approached by Dr Wilson, who at that time was looking for “anything dental for nothing” – to help set-up Hope Dental Centre.
Now, two donated treatment rooms later, along with various sponsorship and fundraising activities, Karl is honoured and considers it a privilege to be on the advisory board of Bridge2Aid. Having already travelled to Mwanza in 2006, Karl is expecting to be back there soon in order to experience progress first-hand and fit out treatment room two at Hope Dental Centre.
