First DVP outside of the Lake Zone - 25th January 2012
For the first time, we are running a Dental Training Programme outside of the Lake Zone of Tanzania.
Previously, we have always been based in Mwanza, had volunteers arrive in Mwanza and run all logistics from our Mwanza office. But for the first time ever, we are running a programme based outside of Mwanza! This week, we are in Dodoma with a group of experienced volunteers, working with a brand new District in the Dodoma Region.
Dodoma is the capital city of Tanzania, but is not anywhere close to the size or development of the financial capital, Dar es Salaam. The outlying areas of the city are extremely underdeveloped and many areas have a lack of basic medical care.
We are looking forward to exploring the city more thoroughly and getting to know the people in the areas where we will be training.
Thank you to the volunteers who are brave enough for this adventure with us and willing to help us figure out all of the details of running a programme outside of our base.
