Patrick Allen, Arwel Thomas, Diane Cann, Kate Ballam, John Dinsdale, Siobhan Cleary, Marie Brown, Shirley Peet, James Salter and Hima Joshi spent two weeks in April 2009 cleaning, scrubbing, painting and renovating Mpupua dormitory at Bukumbi Care Centre in Mwanza.
The team had spent many months fundraising over £17,000 to pay for the renovations, and had also committed to paying their own personal costs for the trip.
The residents were overjoyed when they were at last allowed back in to their home - now brightly painted, clean rooms with new beds, mattresses, bedding, mosquito nets and curtains. Plus functioning showers and toilets! An amazing transformation and an overwhelming time for all concerned.
