What We Do
Needed urgently! A Locum dentist for HDC
Can you give us your time and skills to help make a difference?
We are looking for a Locum dentist to work in Bridge2Aid's not-for-profit dental clinic.
Hope Dental Centre operates commercially, charging fees to patients. This charging structure allows us to not only fund the resident dentist's salary and our regular running costs, but also generates a profit which is vital to the charitable work of Bridge2Aid in Mwanza.
The clinic is open 5 days a week, with 10-15 patients a day. The covering dentist also flies by light aircraft regularly to work in the dental clinic at one of the rural mining communities - quite an adventure! You will need to be flexible and relaxed in your approach, and un-fazed by equipment which in true African style often develops a mind of its own!
We will provide you with accommodation and food, you will need to meet flight, visa and malaria prophylaxis costs. You are welcome to spend from 2-5 weeks with us, but for however long you come, we will make sure you have the experience of a lifetime - as well as making a real difference to the people of Tanzania.
10 May - 11 June 2010 (arrive in Mwanza 9 May)
30 July - 30 August 2010 (arrive in Mwanza 29 July)
Previous volunteers have had life-changing experiences with Bridge2Aid; Dr Kathy Wilson came out in June 2006, and again in 2007:
“My two weeks spent at Hope Dental Centre in June 2006 were among the most rewarding of my career. I found the experience of working with the Bridge2Aid team inspiring. Working in the clinic and being able to support the great work in Mwanza is something I really enjoyed and am looking forward to doing more of in the future.”
Interested? Please send a CV and covering letter, explaining why you would like to volunteer to the Visits Co-ordinator, ruth@bridge2aid.org.
