Bukumbi Diary - September 2008

The September Work team has arrived! 12 volunteers from the UK will spend the next fortnight scrubbing, cleaning, painting and generally refurbishing Lwango Dormitory. The residents are very excited, and so are we!

On Saturday we waved off 12 tired volunteers back to the UK. They had just spent 2 weeks working at Bukumbi cleaning and painting the Lwango accommodation block. Under the direction of Margaret, Fay and Martin they did an amazing job and the building is transformed. As well as painting and cleaning Fay organised a playscheme for the kids in the afternoons and some days they had over 150 kids attending. Some of whom had never used a pair of scissors or held a paint brush before!
There’s so much we could say about the 2 weeks but mostly the pictures say it and we are just left to say a huge thank you! It really has made a lasting difference to the community at Bukumbi. Thank you!
