What We Do
Bukumbi Diary - October 2008
9th October
The dust has settled and the people living in Lwango have moved back all their belongings and have made the rooms their own! They are very happy to have a cupboard to keep their belongings in, and are making a great effort to keep it clean and tidy!
The play scheme for the children was a great success and now that they are back to school, it is back to work with the teachers of Kigongo school. For teachers at the moment there is a problem with wages and they are very demoralised. So, working with the Ward Education Officer, we are encouraging the teachers to be more focused and are helping them with their teaching. The children are busy preparing for the Standard 7 leaving celebration which should be next week! The Standard 7 children then have to wait for their results in December... (FM)

In just one week the dormitory block Jumbe seems to already have had a facelift! New roof panels to let in light and painted ceiling panels, window frames and mesh- the building is getting ready for willing Practice Plan volunteers to come in November, and clean and paint! Charles has been working very hard and the electricity is now in the process of being fixed. (FM)
