What We Do
Bukumbi Diary- February 2010
2nd February
Now that the madness of January has passed and the children are back at school, we have had chance to visit the sponsored vocational students in their colleges. Naomi and Felix have started sewing and carpentry this year and have settled in well. Kabula acheived a place in the local secondary school and has begun studies there- she even had to take her
own desk!
Work at Kigongo School has started in the standard 1 classroom and the workmen were laying a new concrete floor. I was very pleased to see the new desks that had been finished. The teachers even labelled them with Bridge2Aid! Thank you to Jan and Green Finanical who are supporting this.
22nd February
February seems to be the month of building work at the school and at the centre! The standard one classroom is now waiting for the finishing touches of murals on the walls and with left over money we are having more desks made! The head teacher Kafiriti is very happy and the classroom is now a better environment in which to learn.
Also the work began on the community block at the centre where Charles and his team steamed ahead with removing the roof and relaying the floor. This preparation work is ready for the team coming out in April. Small things like a lick of paint can change someones environment and give them pride in their homes and place of work.
