Core Aims
B2A's programmes flow from the vision of our founders. The areas of Oral Health and Community Development are brought together under the B2A umbrella.
|
Our Core Aims are: - To provide primary dental care and oral health education to communities in Tanzania. - To equip and train indigenous oral health personnel. - To care for and empower the poorest in Tanzanian society. - To provide opportunities for UK dental professionals and others to use their skills to serve Tanzania. |
|
We achieve these aims in the following ways:
B2A's clinic - Hope Dental Centre - provides much needed dental services in the city of Mwanza. It operates on a unique self funding basis which generates income for the charity as well as enabling B2A to offer free treatment to those in need.
B2A provides training in emergency dentistry utilising UK volunteers which affects up to half a million people each year.
B2A's Schools Dental Service - the first of its kind in Tanzania - will provide free screening, pain relief and oral health education for Mwanza schoolchildren.
B2A's clinic development programme helps to improve the quality and sustainability of dental services in Tanzania. We work alongside existing clinics, charities and other organisations to help develop their clinical resources, personnel and systems to make them into well run, sustainable facilities.
B2A's community development programme works with the disabled and people affected by leprosy. We use profits from Hope Dental Centre as well as funds raised in the UK and Tanzania to deliver a long term programme which includes health, education, agriculture and infrastructure projects with the aim of involving the community themselves in the process of transformation.
