Raman
Bedi
was Chief Dental Officer –
England
from October 2002 to October 2005. He is currently the head of the Global Child Dental Health Taskforce, whose mission is to support governments on how they can improve children’s oral health.
As well as holding honorary professorships with a number of overseas universities and lecturing in over 40 countries, he is the past President of the British Society for Disability and Oral Health (2002), President of the Education Research Group of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) (2002-2004) and chair of the IADR Regional Development Programme Committee (2002-2004). He has published over 170 scientific papers and 4 books.
Bedi
has extensive experience in the voluntary sector, being the trustee/council member of several charities. He was an elected member of the General Synod of the Church of England (1995-2005) and chaired the Archbishop’s Council (Church of England) Urban and Community Affairs Committee (1996-2001). He is a Board member of the Higher Education Leadership Foundation, Member of the HE National mentoring scheme for senior staff and a Member of the HEFCE Strategic Committee for Wider Participation. In 2003 he was given the Asian Guild award and the Asian Jewel award. He is married with 3 children. |
