What We Do
Simon Roland BDS (Lond), LDSRCS (Eng)
Dr Simon Roland became a Trustee for Bridge2Aid in November 2008. He has been the senior principal of a private general dental practice in St John’s Wood, Regents Park, London, for 32 years treating a very eclectic mix of patients from many different backgrounds and countries.
He has a particular interest in major restorative work and the use of implants and porcelain veneers as well as minimum intervention adhesive bonding systems in general dentistry.
In addition to general practice, Simon consults as the Dental Advisor to The Wrigley Company in their efforts to promote the oral health benefits of chewing sugar-free gum. He has lectured for Wrigleys on this subject in the UK, Europe and Africa.
Simon is also Chairman of Judges for the Dentistry Awards.
He is a keen skier and was an occasional ski instructor in Europe and USA, not to mention Alexandra Palace dry ski slope. He is a golfer of handicap 13 at Porters Park Golf Club Hertfordshire and an intermittent sailor of dinghies and larger vessels whenever given the opportunity!
A keen hill walker anywhere and everywhere, Simon climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in August 2007 as well as completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in May 2008, on behalf of Bridge2Aid.
In February of this year he and his wife acquired an old ruined farm house and 150 olive trees on 2 hectares of hillside in Abruzzo, southern Italy. He says, "I will no doubt spend the rest of my days and resources trying to restore it back to its former glory!"
